Finally a bit of trivia. Seems the reason for Clubland being known as Introducing the Dwights outside Australia is due to another movie called Clubland about the club scene involving drink/drugs/sex having been released in 1999, which is available on DVD, so the distributers of the movie did not want to confuse the American film goers, into thinking the film will be similar in topic.

4th October 2005 We are pleased to to confirm that Philip Quast will be perfoming in the play 'The Cherry Orchard'. I know some may ask why we haven't annouced earlier, this is due to an incident, when another production company in Oz claimed on their website that Philip was performing in something even though the producers knew Mr Quast had pulled out some months earlier. Unfortunately some fans had spent alot of money on tickets and lost deposits for the trip so you can understand why we always get confirmation from Mr Quast himself.Mr Quast apologises for not letting us know sooner, but filming took longer than planned in Oz. Also he's not long returned, having had a long family holiday, which I don't think anyone would deny him and his family seeing they will have spent a large part of the year apart already and with him due to return to Oz before the years out.

6th October 2004 You go away for three weeks holiday and all sorts of things happen. First for those who were unfortunate to attend the performance on the 18th September. Mr Quast was unable to perfom due to suffering from the flu, but has recovered only to hurt his knee in a slight fall on stage again. He is recovering slowly, fortunately they are not perfoming 'Funny ......' for a few weeks so that should give his knee enough time to rest and heal.Second for those fortunate to see Mr Quast perform at Jason Robert Brown's concert I am glad to see he made it. When I spoke to Mr Quast he was not sure he would be able to perform due to prior and engagement and so there was a good chance he would not make it back in time to attend and also depending on how tired he was. As we know Mr Quast did make it back, but just, he actually only arrived at the concert just after the interval. As those who attend know, Mr Brown called out a signal of 'Are you there!' If Mr Quast hadn't responded then Mr Browing was going to make his apologies.
Third. As those who attend the 'In Converation' at the National, Mr Quast mentioned about peforming a play in Australia in 2005. At present all details concerning the production have to be confirmed, finalised and signed. So until eveything has been finalised and agreed Mr Quast does not to want to get fans hopes up as has previously happened only for things to fall through. Thus leaving some people having already booked holidays, even flights and hotels. Once everything has been crossed and dotted Mr Quast will let us know.
And finally Mr Quast said he hoped slowly to get back in the studio, first he has to to get his voice back to be able to sing at his full range, find songs that has meaning and he can connect with. There is the cost of studio time and other comittments. He said he may just record a couple of songs at a time over a long period and see what happens, so it might be some time before anything is released, if anything. So lets just keep fingers and toes crossed and hope something is released in a few years time.
Well that's all the news I have for you so far, hope to have some more soon. Take care.

Hi Everyone
We are glad to be able to confirm that Philip Quast has won the Best Actor in a Musical Award for his role as Emile in RNT's production of 'South Pacific in the 26th Annual Olivier Awards this year.
The award was presented to him by Maria Friedman after Wednesday Evenings performance 13 Feb. at the curtain call!
The presentation was filmed for the BBC who are showing the presentation of the awards on Saturday Night 16th February.
We would just like to say congratulations to Philip who fully deserves the accolade for giving such a wonderful heart rendering performance not only of Emile in 'South Pacific', but also as Archibald Craven in 'The Secret Garden'!!!
What is so impressive about this win is not only is Philip Quast the first actor to win three times in this catagory but the fact he has only been nominated three times and won on each occasion.

The latest news is that Philip is returning to Australia this month to film a new 6 part (half hours) drama doco. called Corridors of Power set in Canberra for ABC. He plays a liberal (Tory) back bencher called Michael Fielding and it is set in the lead up to Australia's forthcoming election.
28 August 2001
Philip at present is working on Me and Mrs Jones which also stars Robson Green and Caroline Goodall (who Philip worked with in Cassidy). It is a two-part (2 x 90 minutes) film written by Caleb Ranson, in which he plays the barrister Richard Bowden the husband of the British Prime Minister (Goodall). It's not a huge part but it has a twist.
Robson plays a tabloid journalist who writes a newspaper column under the name Mrs Jones. Robson's character attempts to seduce the newly elected PM. He has very negative views on her but she changes his views on not only an intellectual level but an emotional one and they fall in love. The Minister's barrister husband however is not interested in his wife or any other woman for that matter and has a fling with a male member of his chambers.
Filming began on 30 July 2001 and Philip finishes September 2001.
